Destination – Ego; Direction - Life

Image
Photo Credit: Pinterest Destination – Ego; Direction - Life A destination is a very clear-cut thing; direction is very intuitive. A destination is something outside you, more like a thing. A direction is an inner feeling, not an object, but our very subjectivity. We can feel direction, we cannot know it. We can know the destination; we cannot feel it. Destination is in the future. Once decided, we start manipulating our life towards it, steering our life towards it. How can we decide the future? Who are we to decide the unknown? How is it possible to fix the future? Future is that which is not known yet. Future is open possibility. By fixing a destination our future is no more a future because it is no more open. Now we have chosen one alternative out of many, because when all the alternatives were open it was future. Now all alternatives have been dropped; only one alternative has been chosen. It is no longer future; it is our past. The past decides when we decide a destin...

Continuously Evolving Life

Image
Photo Credit: QuoteFancy Continuously Evolving Life Life is always testing us – many of us get the feeling, “Why is God testing me all the time, why do I have to face such problems always?” This is actually nature’s cycle – there is no person born on earth who has not faced problems. Even the greatest of Masters have faced problems and moved on and evolved with the passage of time. It is the most fundamental thing that one needs to remember – suffering is never over, even if it comes, all we need to do is face it with awareness. There will be phases in life when one feels that all the problems have been overcome and that one is filled with love and compassion; but to continuously maintain that state is very difficult. Obviously when there is no greed, jealousy, anger – one is filled with love and compassion. It is the same energy that becomes passion, jealousy, anger. It is the same energy – positive and negative manifestation – this is what we need to be alert and aware about. L...

Seekers and Solitary Existence

Image
Photo Credit: The Sage Method Seekers and Solitary Existence Since the beginning of time those who seek to know their true self have moved into solitary existence in the mountains. Why do such seekers move to the mountains and become solitaires? They do so to simply face their inner mountains immediately and directly. When one is in society it is difficult to do so because one’s energy is wasted in day-to-day routine and work; one does not find enough time and energy to encounter oneself simply because one’s time and energy is burnt in encountering others! We are all so preoccupied and to come face to face with oneself we need to have a very unoccupied life; because it is such a tremendous phenomenon to face oneself. We will need all our energies. Seekers have always moved into solitary existence, just to face oneself. Wherever they go - just to face oneself; to make it uncomplicated, because in a relationship it becomes complicated because the other brings his or her miser...

Each Individual is Unique

Image
Photo Credit: Pinterest Each Individual is Unique T he greatest courage in life is needed when we go inwards. Firstly, it is a flight from the alone to the alone, it is going deeper into one’s aloneness. And humans are caught up in such a way that they become accustomed to company, to people, to family. They absolutely forget the joy of being alone; hence there is a fear of being left alone. That’s why nations and religions exist – they feed of fear, and not on love. All political discourse in all countries is based on people, crowds – they are dependent on crowds for ensuring their political success. People are afraid of being left alone; they have to be part of some crowd — a political crowd, a social crowd, a religious crowd; any crowd will do, but they are dependent on the crowd. They feel good when they are surrounded by people; they start feeling shaky, scared when they find there is nobody and they are alone.  That utter aloneness creates great fear because we are...

Get Involved in Life

Image
Photo Credit: DadaBhagwan.org Get Involved in Life We have all taken birth to achieve a certain objective in life. In fact, I believe, that all of us take birth only to attain liberation and merge with universal consciousness. But from the time we take birth till the time we die, there is a time span that has to be lived. Apart from those rare souls who truly know the purpose for which they have taken birth, the rest of us forget our primary objective and get caught up in the day-to-day rut of living our lives. Some of us go through the motions, some work to achieve certain goals, some aspire for higher ground, but all ‘live’ their lives in order to raise the level of their consciousness consciously or unconsciously. Everyone is progressing spiritually, but most of them do not know it. We are all living to fulfill our karmas, till the time we meet our living Satguru or Master, who guides us on the spiritual path. We realise that there is no true happiness in the material wo...

Unlearning the Mind

Image
Photo Credit: The Minds Journal Unlearning the Mind Is meditation something which can be taught? Meditation starts happening only once the mind becomes quiet – so, the challenge is the mind. Unlearning the mind is the beginning of meditation. Unlearning the mind is learning meditation; when the mind has been completely unlearned one has learned meditation. One cannot go directly into learning meditation. All that is needed is to remove the mind. The mind is like a block. The river is there but blocked, it can’t flow. It is covered with rocks; those rocks don’t allow it any outlet. It is surging within us, it is longing for the ocean, it wants to get out of this prison. That’s why everybody feels so restless. This restlessness is nothing but our consciousness longing to meet with the ultimate. The river wants to reach the ocean. The seed wants to sprout, but it is covered, blocked by a big rock. That rock is of our mind. And it is a big rock because we have been accumulating i...

Meditation is not Escapism

Image
Photo Credit: Illuminations Dubai Meditation is not Escapism I know several people who give meditation and spirituality as an excuse for not fulfilling their material world obligations. This is nothing but escapism. I have heard so many people say that Swamiji says this, so this is how it applies to me! One thing should be as clear as daylight is that the mind of a weak person interprets what is said to suit the person concerned – that does not mean it is correct. Our mind makes the interpretation as a representative of our ego and the issue is twisted in a way to suit the goal or objective of the so-called meditator. As part of our life, we have to fulfill our family and work responsibilities – there are no excuses that can justify avoiding those. If one does so, then one is just creating new karma for himself/herself. Dropping all responsibilities is not good. Those responsibilities have to be fulfilled — fulfilled with great joy. One’s wife, children, parents, our old fa...
