The Materialistic Dimension

The Materialistic Dimension

Over time, over several births one moves from the materialistic to the divine dimension. As one moves by and by into the divine dimension, one becomes less and less interested in material things.

We show more interest in persons. Even while relating to things, relate to them as if one is relating with people. When we take a book in our hands, we do so with such respect that the book no longer remains an object. By showing respect we confer a personality on it, when we eat food, eat it with such reverence that the food does not remain just food; it becomes blessed food. When we start treating objects with respect, we will gradually realise that these are not just things – they are all there for a purpose. We learn to live with awareness, we begin to respect everything and suddenly things appear clearer than ever before.

But what is happening in the world today – exactly the opposite. People are treating other people as things. Just observe how people treat other people on the social ladder – it will be big a eye-opener!  A husband tends to treat his wife as a thing, something to be used. The wife goes on treating the husband as a thing. This is known as the materialistic dimension – when we treat a person as a thing. When we start treating even things as persons, the dimension of the divine opens its door for us.

The dimension of the divine is nothing but a capacity to feel the presence of God everywhere, howsoever hidden. In a rock He may be fast asleep, but He is there. Paramatma lies hidden inside a person; He becomes slightly visible as soul consciousness awakens within us. In a realised Master, He is totally, fully awake. But there is a bridge between the master and rock. The rock too can become a Master one day, as the Master too once was a rock.

Every sinner has a future and every saint has a past – and that is the bridge. Start figuring out how to change from the materialist dimension towards the divine dimension. It is just a shift of consciousness. One need not escape from the world. But one needs to look into things so deeply that everything attains to a centre.

So, this is going to be our path. Treat every person with tremendous respect – even our own child, because he too is God’s only begotten son. He is also a manifestation of the divine. In a thousand and one forms the same energy is manifested.

And when we start looking into others and we drop the materialist illusion about people and things, we will become capable of looking more and more inwards. Whatever we do to others, we will do to ourselves. If we have a deep respect for people’s souls, our own soul will rise and shine.
