One Cannot be Anyone Else
In life’s journey, many people
spend their energy trying to become someone else. We compare ourselves, imitate
others, and measure our worth against external standards. Yet the truth is
simple and profound: one cannot be anyone else. Each soul is unique, carrying
its own fragrance, its own rhythm, its own destiny. In Himalayan Samarpan
Dhyanyog, this uniqueness is not only acknowledged but celebrated, for it is
through connection with the Satguru that we discover our true Self.
The Satguru does not ask us to
become like him in outer form. He does not demand imitation of his personality
or actions. Instead, he guides us inward, toward the essence of who we truly
are. Through meditation, when we surrender the chitta at the sahastrar, the
Guru-energies flow into us. This flow does not erase individuality - it awakens
authenticity. It helps us become one with our own Self, not someone else’s
reflection.
Swami Shivkrupanandji teaches
that the mind is restless because it constantly compares. It wants to be
better, greater, or different. But the soul does not compare. The soul simply
is. When we connect with the Satguru, we begin to shift from mind-consciousness
to soul-consciousness. In this shift, the need to imitate dissolves. We realise
that our uniqueness is not a flaw - it is our gift. The Satguru’s grace helps
us embrace this gift fully.
Trying to be someone else is
like planting a mango seed and expecting it to grow into a rose. Each seed
carries its own destiny. The mango tree must give mangoes, the rose must give
roses. In the same way, each soul has its own path, its own expression. The
Satguru helps us recognise this truth. He does not change our essence - he
reveals it. He helps us live as we are meant to live, in alignment with our
inner nature.
Meditation in Samarpan
Dhyanyog is not about becoming extraordinary in the eyes of the world. It is
about becoming ordinary in the eyes of the Self - ordinary in the sense of
being natural, authentic, and true. When we surrender, we stop striving to be
someone else. We begin to rest in who we are. And in that resting,
transformation happens. The ego dissolves, the heart opens, and the soul
shines.
The connection with the
Satguru is like a mirror. It reflects not what we pretend to be, but what we
truly are. In his silence, we see ourselves clearly. In his vibrations, we feel
our own essence. This clarity is liberating. It frees us from the burden of
comparison and the illusion of imitation. We realise that the highest spiritual
achievement is not to become someone else, but to become fully ourselves.
This realisation also brings
peace. When we stop trying to be anyone else, we stop struggling. We stop
competing. We stop resisting life. Instead, we begin to flow. We live from our
centre, responding instead of reacting, serving instead of striving. Our
uniqueness becomes our strength, and our individuality becomes our offering.
In the end, Samarpan
Meditation teaches us that the path to liberation is not about changing who we
are, but about discovering who we are. The Satguru takes us within, guiding us
to the Self. And in that Self, we find the truth: one cannot be anyone else. We
can only be ourselves - unique, authentic, and divine.
