How to Find Joy in Life

We often spend our entire lives searching for joy as if it were a distant goal, a reward waiting for us at the end of a long list of achievements, ideal circumstances, or outer possessions. Yet, enlightened masters like Swami Shivkrupanandji remind us of a profound and liberating truth: Joy is not something you create or chase - joy is your fundamental, original nature.

If joy is indeed a natural experience innate to the soul, it brings us to a crucial question: What am I doing that prevents it?

The Barriers We Build Against Joy - In the light of Swamiji’s teachings, joy is like sunlight; it is always present, but we cover ourselves with heavy clouds of our own making. We prevent joy in three primary ways:

1.     Living in the Past and Future: Our minds are constantly caught in the loops of past regrets or future anxieties. When the mind is anywhere except here, we miss the subtle, ever-present joy of the current moment.

2.     Identification with Ego and Expectations: We mistakenly tie our happiness to outer conditions - how people treat us, how much wealth we possess, or whether our desires are fulfilled. When we operate from the ego, any disturbance in the external world shatters our internal peace.

3.     Accumulating Mental Noise: We overload ourselves with constant self-criticism, comparisons, and the heavy burden of "doing" rather than simply "being."

Swamiji emphasises that spiritual progress is not about adding something new to yourself, but about releasing what is unnecessary. When you drop the heavy armour of ego, expectations, and mental chatter, the underlying current of joy naturally surfaces.

Turning Up for Your Own Life - When you truly turn up for your own life, joy doesn’t need to be hunted down - it arrives on its own.

What does it mean to "turn up" for your life?

Being Present in the 'Now': It means bringing your full awareness to whatever you are doing in this moment, whether sitting in silence, doing daily work, or breathing deeply.

Connecting with the Soul: Through regular practice of Samarpan Meditation, we shift our focus away from the body and mind consciousness toward soul consciousness. When you anchor yourself in the soul, you realise you are already complete.

Surrender (Samarpan): Turning up for life means letting go of the need to control every outcome. By unconditionally and totally surrendering your burdens, thoughts, and worries to the Divine (Gurutattva), you allow life to flow through you naturally without resistance.

Joy isn't a destination you arrive at after fixing everything in your outer world. It is the spontaneous byproduct of being aligned with your true self.

The Power of Meditation Under Divine Guidance - Under the compassionate guidance of a realised Master like Swami Shivkrupanandji, meditation becomes a process of returning home to yourself.

Through daily, pure meditation:

·        The mental noise begins to settle.

·        You stop seeking approval from the outside world because you discover an inexhaustible reservoir of peace within.

·        You realise that joy is simply the natural state of a quiet, surrendered mind.

"The moment you are free from the past and the future you are in tune with the present. And that harmony with the present brings all joys, all benedictions, all blessings." - Osho.

Stop hunting for joy in the outer world. Turn inward, connect with the divine light within, and allow the natural joy of your existence to shine forth effortlessly.
