SCMM 2014 - Mumbai Marathon AND the Samarpan Family

Sunday, January 19, 2014 Live in the Moment, Run with the Movement Last year the charity I usually supported did not take part, hence as part of Corporate Challenge I ran for United Way of Mumbai and wore the Samarpan scarf for the first time during the run. The scarfs energy worked and this year Samarpan family officially participated in the marathon! Energy always works! This year was the first year the Samarpan Family was taking part in the Marathon. Pujya Swamiji had given His approval and blessings in July 2013 saying, “Do something different, go ahead, but take contributions from non-sadhaks,” ( This is for the Ayurvedic Medical Centre project at Sindavadar Ashram, Rajkot).This was a master-stroke as propagation of Samarpan movement and fund collection could take place simultaneously. Having participated in the world event since its first edition and having run every half Marathon since 2007, Mumbai Marathon has become sort of an inner journey for me. As a youth, I used to run 15 rounds of Shivaji Park because running has always given me pleasure as well as peace. As I applied online for the 2014 Marathon event, I ran down memory lane - I remembered with nostalgia, my first marathon participation. The memory of that fresh morning air carrying with it the January chill still sends shivers up my spine.
