Accept your limitations!
Accept your
limitations!
Everyone is
not born a genius and to balance this out every academic genius does not become
a billionaire. Lots of parents end up comparing siblings, and now with the norm
of only one child, they end up comparing their own children with other
children. This is the worst thing one can do to the psyche of your own child.
God has not made any two individuals the same – each one is made differently
and is born with the sole purpose of working out his or her own karmas. This
fundamental fact is not known to many and a lot of people try to impose their
own expectations on their children – in some cases this may work out, but in a
majority of the cases this becomes a disaster for the child and subsequently
for the parent-child relationship.
An easier
way to get out of this predicament is for the parent to accept the fact that
the child has certain inherent limitations. Once the parents accept this fact, they
can start looking for that certain quality or interest which their child lights
up with. Once that is found, then bringing up the child becomes a more focused
and enjoyable journey. Similarly, every individual needs to accept that he/she
has certain limitations – everybody cannot become a Hollywood/Bollywood star, everyone
is not born with a silver spoon in the mouth, everyone is not a sports
superstar – but always remember each individual is unique and has been born
with a specific purpose in life.
So, it is
best to accept who we are and live our life and serve the purpose for which we
are born. Once, we accept our limitations, we can go beyond them and then, once we are on the spiritual path our sole goal becomes liberation
or moksha. Even on the spiritual path we should accept our limitations and
surrender completely and unconditionally to the Guru-energies and pray to them
to lead us on to our goal. As we progress, we will be able to map our own
spiritual milestones based on our spiritual experiences and dive deeper and
deeper into our core.
