The Whole
Human Spectrum
We think too much –
each one of us has a 50% good monkey and a 50% bad monkey within us – it depends
on us which monkey we wish to feed. In fact, everyone has a potential murderer
within him/her. It is not something that we have. In fact, every man, every
woman, is the whole humanity in a miniature form. Whatever can be done by any
man can be done by us; it is potentially there. We can commit a murder, we can
commit suicide; we can become a sinner, we can become a saint.
We can become Genghis
Khan and we can also become a Buddha - the whole spectrum, each individual has
the whole spectrum. So, never be worried, these are not problems; this is just
the spectrum that is available to us. It is like we have a radio, and all the
stations are available. We have to tune in to whichever station we want and
then we start functioning on that wavelength.
Anger is there, hate is
there, love is there; all wavelengths are available. Now it depends on us what we
want to be. If we tune ourselves into love, love will become available and all
else will recede into the background. It will always remain there; whenever we
want to change the wavelength we can.
This is something very
important to understand - even a Saint wants to be angry, he can immediately
tune himself into the anger. It has not died; it is just lying dormant there;
it is still available. He will not use it – that is another matter – but if he
wants to use it, it is not that it is not available; it is there.
Our potential always
remains there. If we don’t use it, it remains dormant; if we use it, it
becomes more manifest. The difference between a Saint and us is not that we
have anger and the Saint has no anger. The only difference is that the Saint
chooses his anger and our anger chooses us. Our anger becomes our master; the
saint is master of his own self. Anger cannot possess him, unless he decides
so, but the decision is always his. That is the only difference.
There is no point
worrying about things which have a potential to occur. All we need to do is
focus on the positive and ensure the negative potential does not pop up! We get
stuck in our own mental framework – people coax us to come out and be open –
the more they coax us, the more we shrink within.
By meditating, we need
to ensure that we allow the positive to flower within us, and once that
happens, even though we have the potential to live through the entire spectrum
of human emotions – we begin to allow the 50% positive aspect to flower.
