Meditation – the Key to Pure Intelligence
Meditation – the Key to Pure Intelligence
The human mind, in its ordinary state,
is a labyrinth of thoughts, emotions, and memories. It's a powerful tool, but
often a clouded one, filled with the constant chatter of the ego, past
experiences, and future anxieties. This internal "noise" prevents us
from accessing a deeper, more profound level of awareness—the source of pure
intelligence. The ancient practice of meditation, particularly as taught by
Himalayan Samarpan Dhyanyog and His Holiness Shivkrupanand Swamiji, is the
direct pathway to this pure intelligence. It's not a means to gain knowledge
through study, but a method to uncover the wisdom that already resides within.
Swamiji’s teachings emphasise that our
true nature is that of the soul, which is a state of pure consciousness. The
soul is inherently connected to the Universal Consciousness, the ultimate
source of all knowledge, wisdom, and creative power. However, the mind, with
its constant activity and identification with the physical body and emotions,
acts as a filter, obscuring this connection. Meditation, therefore, is not
about adding anything new, but about removing the layers of mental noise and
clutter that stand between us and our true self. It’s a process of becoming
still, so that the voice of pure intelligence can be heard.
The practice of Samarpan Dhyanyog is a
powerful and direct method for this. By sitting in selfless surrender for a
dedicated period each day, the practitioner consciously chooses to let go of
their thoughts, attachments, and the ego's need for control. This act of
surrender is the key. It's like turning off a noisy engine so you can hear the
natural sounds of the world around you. As the mind quietens, a profound
stillness emerges. This stillness is not an empty void, but a state of
heightened awareness and deep peace. It is in this state that the intellect,
which is the mind's ability to reason, is transcended, and a new, intuitive
form of intelligence begins to surface.
This pure intelligence is different from
intellectual knowledge. Intellectual knowledge is accumulated from external
sources—books, teachers, and experiences. It is limited and can be forgotten.
Pure intelligence, on the other hand, is an intuitive knowing that arises from
within. It is the ability to understand a situation completely, to know the
right action to take without having to logically analyse every detail. It is
the spontaneous insight that provides solutions to problems that the logical
mind could not solve. This is why great inventors, artists, and leaders often
speak of a moment of "inspiration" or "flow" where ideas seem
to come from an unknown source. They were, in that moment, aligned with the
pure intelligence.
The benefits of accessing this pure
intelligence are profound and extend far beyond the meditation cushion. In
daily life, it leads to intuitive decision-making, a remarkable ability to
choose the right path with clarity and confidence. It fosters enhanced
creativity, as ideas flow effortlessly from a deeper source. It cultivates emotional
intelligence, allowing us to respond to situations with wisdom and compassion
rather than impulsively. With a mind that is clear and still, we are no longer
slaves to our emotions or circumstances. We live from a place of inner clarity
and peace. This is the ultimate purpose of the inward journey—to transform our
experience from one of chaos and confusion to one of purpose and serene
knowing.
Through the consistent practice of
meditation as a means of surrender, we gradually purify the mind and gain
access to this infinite wellspring of pure intelligence. It is a journey of
self-discovery, where we learn that the greatest wisdom and power we seek is
not out in the world, but patiently waiting to be uncovered within our own
being.
