Life is an Illusion

Life, as we perceive it, is not the ultimate reality - it is an illusion. We are born not merely to live and enjoy, but to repay karmic debts carried forward from past births. This repayment is subtle, woven into the circumstances of our lives, the relationships we form, and the challenges we face.

In the earliest years of childhood, until the age of four or five, many children carry faint memories of why they came into this world. They live closer to their soul’s truth, untouched by identity. But once society gives us a name, the ego awakens. With identity comes separation, and with separation comes illusion.

From that moment, layers of conditioning begin to form. We connect with family, friends, education, work, desires, and emotions. Each connection adds another layer of illusion, covering the soul’s purity. Slowly, the soul becomes masked, and we forget our true purpose. Life then becomes a play of desires and fears, a constant identification with temporary roles.

This illusion is powerful because it feels real. We believe our relationships, possessions, and achievements define us. We chase success, recognition, and pleasure, thinking they will bring fulfilment. Yet beneath all these layers, the soul remains untouched, waiting to be rediscovered. The spiritual path is not about adding more layers of belief or ritual - it is about peeling them away to reach the core.

Meditation is the key to unravelling this illusion. Under the guidance of a living master like Shree Shivkrupanand Swamiji, meditation helps us journey inward. As we meditate, the layers of conditioning dissolve, and the soul begins to shine. The Satguru’s presence awakens consciousness, guiding us beyond illusion into truth.

As soul consciousness increases, awareness deepens. We begin to understand who we truly are and why we are here. The illusion loses its grip. We no longer identify with fleeting emotions or external roles. Instead, we centre ourselves within, resting in our own consciousness.

This centring is transformative. Slowly, the illusion disappears, and we merge with universal consciousness. Life no longer feels like a burden of karmic debts but becomes a flow of awareness and peace. The soul shines through - unmasked, radiant, and free.
