What is Inner Experience?
What is Inner
Experience?
Beyond the Five
Senses - Human life is traditionally spent looking outward. We
use our five senses to navigate the physical world, constantly trying to organise
external situations to find comfort. However, a profound shift occurs after we
meet a living Master like Shree Shivkrupanand Swamiji who lovingly guides us
and helps us take a U-turn and turn our attention inward. This transition marks
the beginning of true inner experience. It is the moment we stop merely
reacting to the outside world and start exploring the vast, subtle, and
energetic reality that exists within our own consciousness.
The Awakening:
Kundalini and the Chakras - At the heart of this inner journey is
the phenomenon of Kundalini awakening. Far from being a mere mythological
concept, Kundalini represents the latent, primordial spiritual energy coiled at
the base of the spine. When awakened through dedicated practice or the grace of
a Master, this energy rises upward, initiating a deep process of chakra
cleansing. As it pierces through the seven major energy centres, it purges
years of accumulated emotional debris, mental blockages, and past impressions.
This inner purification dramatically refines our day-to-day existence,
replacing chaotic mental chatter with an unshakeable sense of clarity,
vitality, and emotional balance.
The Subtle Phenomena:
Divine Vibrations and Fragrance - As the energy system becomes purified
and highly receptive, the inner experience manifests through tangible, mystical
markers. A practitioner begins to feel distinct divine vibrations - a gentle,
blissful current or an ethereal warmth humming through the nervous system
independent of any physical stimulus. Alongside these energetic currents, one
might spontaneously encounter a divine fragrance (sughanda). This beautiful,
otherworldly scent - often resembling fresh lotus, sandalwood, or jasmine - manifests
in the middle of deep meditation without any physical source, serving as a
subtle reassurance that we are tuning into the sacred geometry of the universe.
The Inner Symphony:
Divine Sounds - As the mind settles into absolute
stillness, the external noise fades to reveal the Anahata Nada - the unstruck
cosmic sounds vibrating within. The inner space transforms into a celestial
concert hall where three sacred echoes are commonly heard. First comes
Ghantanaad, the clear, resonant chiming of a divine bell that cuts through
residual thoughts. This can give way to Shankhnaad, the deep, powerful
reverberation of a spiritual conch shell that infuses the consciousness with
courage and purity. Ultimately, these melt into Brahmanaad, the primordial
cosmic hum - the ultimate sound of creation - which dissolves the last
boundaries of the ego into the infinite.
The Ultimate Reality
- Ultimately, a genuine inner experience is not about
chasing visions or getting attached to mystical phenomena. The divine sounds,
fragrances, and vibrations are simply milestones on the path - beautiful
indicators that our energetic system is aligning with the cosmos. They prove
that we are finally waking up to the truth that the entire universe resides
inside us.
