Finding Our Self

Finding Our Self

All kinds of goals basically create a split deep down within us, a kind of hypocrisy. We are who we are and we start trying to be that which we are not. In the beginning it is only an effort to be that which we are not; gradually we also start pretending that we are becoming that which we are not, because to encounter failure continuously is very humiliating. At least we can pretend to others, we can wear masks, we can create a certain persona, a personality, a garb, a facade, and we can start living behind that facade. And people will look only at our mask and they will believe it, and once they start believing it - we start believing it - because they are believing that we are holy, that we are saintly, that we are this and we are that.

It is a very strange game - we start it, and soon we find ourselves caught in it - caught in our own lie! And once we are caught in our own lie, we will try to hide the truth, to evade the truth, to repress the truth; we will begin investing more and more in the lie. We may be a marigold and we may invest our whole life in being a rose. We may be a rose and we may invest our whole life in being a diamond - which we cannot be. This is the sheer stupidity of the experience humanity has been living with for centuries.

For thousands of years man has lived a hypocritical life, utterly false, pseudo, and now to shatter that whole investment, to shatter the whole mind, this certainly hurts. Hence today, everybody is going to be against the Masters who show the true path, except just a few people who are intelligent enough to wake up.

We have created such a strange humanity, and the whole rationale of this whole mad earth, this mad humanity, is religious, spiritual. Search for the truth, search for God, search for the peaks, and we have lost ourselves in the search. There is only one search - to find one’s self - and for that we need not go anywhere else. For that we have to withdraw from all our desires, ambitions, goals. We have to come back home.

Today, there are several Masters who are guiding people across the globe, through meditation, to find their own self. The search is within and not in the mad, hectic, external world. The tough part is staying in society and trying to remain balanced and focused on the inside.

Regular meditation, over a period of time, helps us in achieving that goal. Once that happens whatever the external disturbances, the inside is always calm and serene. There is no turbulence within.

Swamiji’s main objective is for us to find our inner abode. He has taken us in his high- speed train and dropped us off at the lane to our inner abode. This final journey we have to do alone – no one can help. Once we find our inner abode, we would have found our own Self. Here there is only bliss and joy, complete peace and silence.
