In the Satguru’s Presence One is Thoughtless
In the Satguru’s
Presence One is Thoughtless
For centuries, ancient scriptures and
enlightened sages have spoken of the mystical power that surrounds a living
Master. They describe how the restless chatter of the human intellect dissolves
simply by stepping into an aura of pure divinity. Like many sadhaks, I had read
these descriptions with reverence, appreciating them on an intellectual level.
Yet, words remain mere theory until personal experience turns belief into an
unshakeable conviction. That profound turning point arrived during my very
first in-person meeting with the founder of Himalayan Samarpan Meditation, His
Holiness Shree Shivkrupanand Swamiji.
The meeting took place in the sacred
land of Newasa, where I had travelled as an active member of the Management
Board. Prior to entering Swamiji’s presence, our minds were functioning in
their customary mode - analytical, alert, and heavily preoccupied with
administrative duties, responsibilities, and structural challenges. As
management members, we had spent months deliberating over agendas, assessing
operational hurdles, and trying to chart out solutions for the trust.
Naturally, my mind was buzzing with questions, points to raise, and matters
requiring resolution.
However, the instant I crossed the
threshold and sat before Swamiji, something inexplicable occurred. The
relentless stream of thoughts that usually floods the conscious mind came to a
sudden, absolute standstill. It was as though someone had silently pressed a
master switch within my consciousness. My mind felt like a pristine, completely
blank sheet of paper - free of anxiety, free of planning, and devoid of the
habitual internal monologue.
There was no strain, no forceful
concentration, and no wilful effort required to quieten the intellect. Instead,
an effortless void enveloped my being. In ordinary life, achieving even a few
seconds of genuine stillness takes deliberate practice, yet here,
thoughtlessness was a natural, spontaneous atmosphere. It was a tangible realisation
that the Satguru does not merely speak about meditation; his very physical
presence radiates a profound spiritual aura that calms the turbulent waves of
everyone seated around him.
While we were still absorbing this
immaculate inner silence, the next revelation unfolded. Swamiji began to speak.
Without a single person from our group uttering a word or presenting an agenda,
Swamiji calmly and systematically began detailing every single problem and
operational challenge our trust had been facing over the past year.
He highlighted specific bottlenecks,
structural nuances, and the very dilemmas that our management group had debated
in private meetings over the previous twelve months. There had been no prior
briefing, no formal reports handed over, and no verbal preamble from our side.
Yet, here was the Master, laying bare the exact realities of our collective
journey with effortless precision and clarity.
Stunned, we could only look at each
other’s faces in quiet astonishment. The realisation washed over all of us
simultaneously: the physical distance between the Master and his disciples is
merely an illusion. Long before we had arrived in Newasa with our mental lists,
our collective concerns had already been registered in his universal
consciousness.
To be in the physical presence of a
self-realised master like Shree Shivkrupanand Swamiji is to witness the
transcendence of mind and ego. It humbles the rational intellect and awakens
the heart to the higher truth of surrender (samarpan). In that divine
presence, you discover that you do not need to explain, defend, or present your
worries. When the mind turns thoughtless and silent, the Satguru takes care of
both the inner spiritual evolution and the outer worldly path, gently carrying
us forward under the protective canopy of his boundless grace.
