Power of Collectivity
I am sure you have heard the tale
about the dying father who tells his 4 sons to bring a bunch of twigs tied
together and then tells each of them to break the bundle. All of them try to do
so one by one with their full might but they do not succeed. Then the father
tells them to untie the bundle and divide the sticks amongst the four of them
and now see if they can break them – which they do easily. The moral of the
story being united we stand and divided we fall. You may well ask how this
affects one’s spiritual pursuits!
When you get water from a tap and
there is no force, it just drips, else it comes with full force, similarly one
drop of water can be identified but its identity disappears in the ocean. This
is true of forests where a multitude of trees provide the collective energy, so
do the mountains – where the massing of rocks provides the collective energy.
So, a collective or group always provides more energy and enhances the speed at
which things can get done.
Spirituality, apart from how one
develops individually has a lot to do with energy. All people who meditate and
have their own Gurus will agree that the energy in an Ashram or at a meditation
centre is different from that at home or in one’s office. Why is that? This is
simply because when people have been meditating for a long time in a single
place, the collective energy of the meditators stabilises at that place. So,
next time you go there to meditate you enter an already developed energy field
which helps you in the current meditation session. Also group meditations help
in equalizing the flow of energy and people at higher and lower levels of
vibration come to a mean level where all feel the harmonized energy during
meditation.
This is the power of collectivity. Swamiji says that if you meditate for 1000 days, and you meditate for one day with 1000 other people, it is as good as you meditating alone for 1000 days. So, whenever you get the chance to join a group meditation session do not miss it. In the current scenario, because of the pandemic and shutting down of centres and ashrams, do join the group online meditation sessions, believe me you will feel the same collective energy. Stay connected with the subtle form and you will be subtly connected with hundreds of thousands of people – this is a divine cord, once you join it do not break free – stay connected, stay blissed out, stick to the power of collectivity – you will then never feel that you are alone ever again!
