Someone Inside Loves Us

Image
Photo Credit: Pinterest|| Pin on Uplifting Your Spirit Someone Inside Loves Us Many people I know have expressed that they do not feel loved and fear depression from the perceived lack of love. When people say this, then the question I ask them is. “Firstly, do you love yourself? Because if you do not love yourself, how do you expect others to love you?” Love is a pure energy which flowers within, our very nature is love, hence not feeling love or being unable to love is a bit difficult to digest. All of us love our family, friends, relatives, pets and so on. Most of love from a sense of ownership – my husband/wife, my son/daughter, my father/mother, my friend and so on. Here the ‘my’ becomes more important than the ‘love’ as our ego comes into the picture. Swamiji always talks of selfless love – this kind of love is free from ego; it is with no strings attached. Love should actually be like breathing. It should be one of your qualities – wherever you are, with whomsoever y...

The Devil Within?

Image
Photo Credit: America Magazine The Devil Within? The devil is not outside you. We are always tempted to think that the devil is outside because then the responsibility can very easily be thrown on the external devil and you can become completely free of the responsibility. We always find scapegoats to escape from our own responsibility. We always find someone else to blame for whatever is wrong with us. Somebody says something innocently and you become angry. You somehow feel you have been insulted. You are angry and, in that anger, you want to blame someone else, so the perceived insult becomes the engine for your anger. If you are slightly more aware then there would have been no anger, and therefore no perceived insult. It is human nature to shirk one’s own responsibility and blame others. The human mind has been defending itself in this manner for as far back as you can think. Once you convince yourself that someone else is to blame, you can relax and be yourself, there...

Nothing to Fear

Image
Photo Credit: Pinterest || Rumi Nothing to Fear  Many of us have woken up in the middle of the night completely disoriented and not knowing where we are or who we are, except that our heart is pounding and we are very frightened! When we go to sleep it is the conscious mind that switches off, our subconscious mind is wide awake. Dreams occur when the conscious mind goes to sleep and the subconscious mind is functioning. If the subconscious mind also goes to sleep, researchers call it deep sleep – you are truly dead to the world and in a most relaxed state. Fear that is deep within surfaces from the subconscious mind when the conscious mind has gone to sleep. After you suddenly wake up in such a state and try to analyse this fear, it is like probing into a garbage can before throwing out the garbage!   Instead of trying to analyse the fear trying to figure out what caused it, a better approach is to replace that fear with something positive. You could tell yourself, “ Whateve...

Nature - the Best Teacher

Image
Photo Credit: Pinterest|| Ralph Waldo Emerson Nature – the Best Teacher On the spiritual path nature has great lessons for us. With keen observation and an open mind, we can learn a lot from nature. Nature is beauty, art and science. Millions of objects, specimens in nature have given new insights, advanced our knowledge and helped the world in collective endeavour to explore the hidden treasures in nature. Being amidst nature, getting close and observing its creation, teaches us a great deal. The mountains teach us to stand strong against any adversity. The trees teach us to have strong roots – meaning they make our fundamental strong. Yoga and meditation make our spiritual foundation vert strong. The water teaches us to be flexible and calm. A flowing river tells us never to stop, just flow till you reach your destination – the river always flows around any barriers that come up, in the same way we have to circumvent all our problems and keep moving on. The moment we stop...

Where Can You Hide?

Image
Photo Credit: Pinterest || Rumi Where Can You Hide? Throughout our lives we carry so many faces, so many masks – son, brother, sister, father, mother, husband, friend, employee and so on – we are acting in so many roles that we completely forget who we are when we are acting in a particular role at that point in time. With all the roles we play we play our real face is hidden from us deep within. We never encounter that true face because we are living in a world of illusion, a stage – on which we put on as many acts as we need to depending on the role which we are playing. Discovering your true face is the ultimate that has to be attained, this is the ultimate that man is capable of attaining, but it is also something he is entirely capable of missing completely. “Nowhere, not in the sky, nor in the midst of the sea, nor deep in the mountains, can you hide from your own mischief,” is a quote from the Buddhist scriptures which tells us that we cannot hide anywhere from our own...

Be Happy

Image
Photo Credit: FinerMinds Be Happy Everyone is looking for God, running here, there, everywhere – why is that? Because in finding God they believe that they will find happiness and contentment. The beauty about finding God is that one can never do so if one is constantly on the move, running here and there, looking for him. God can be found only when one is absolutely still – only then can one find that happiness and contentment. Many times, we have to live out or karma, so God stays in the background allowing you to endure your karma and you fell that God is not there. You cry out to him, but he seems not to listen, you feel despair and start praying, visiting temples, churches, mosques, all the places of worship trying to find a solution to your problems. But the problems do not seem to go away! Whenever we run after things, we are causing ourselves stress, because that chase is an expression of our desires – whether it is running after God or running after material pursui...

Prayers Make Things Happen

Image
Photo Credit: Happier Human Prayers Make Things Happen Any prayer offered selflessly from the bottom of one’s heart sends out healing vibrations and good thoughts into the universe. These vibrations and thoughts circulate in the cosmos, in the universe. If you pray selflessly for an individual, then your thought vibrations reach that individual in a very subtle form. He/she may not know that you have prayed for his/her welfare, but he/she will definitely receive the help requested and also benefit from it in due course. The relief and loss of stress felt is almost immediate as the solution to their problem presents itself – that is the power of a selfless prayer. Most of the times we offer universal prayers, this is because as Swamiji says when you pray for all, you also pray for yourself and your near and dear ones, so everyone benefits. When the prayer is universal, all those who have an open sail will catch the prayer and benefit from it. Many times, a person’s karma is ...
