Beneath the Mental Noise
The human mind is rarely silent. It is constantly active - thinking, analysing, anticipating. Even when not needed, it continues in the background, weaving stories and explanations. When emotions like anger, fear, hurt, or sadness arise, the mind immediately rushes to blame: “It’s because of this person, this situation, this bad day.” Yet often, the feeling itself is much older. The present moment simply touches something that has been waiting underneath for years - unprocessed emotions that were never fully experienced, expressed, or understood.
The True Nature of the Noise - Mental noise is not the truth; it is a distraction. The mind’s rapid-fire explanations are like dust storms, obscuring the deeper reality. The current trigger is rarely the root cause - it merely awakens a buried feeling. Because the mind is so busy storytelling, we rarely look past the narrative to feel the actual emotion beneath.
The Deeper Layer - Underneath the chatter lies the raw energy of unresolved feelings. A tight chest may hold years of suppressed grief. A knot in the stomach may carry childhood fear. A heaviness in the shoulders may reflect responsibilities long carried without release. The mind tries to explain these sensations away, but the real healing begins only when we stop analysing and allow ourselves to feel.
The Power of Expression Without Analysis - To break the cycle of overthinking, we must bypass the logical mind entirely. Expression without analysis is the key. Practices like expressive meditation or catharsis - such as Osho’s concept of “Gibberish” or non-directed vocalisation - help release pent-up energy. By making sounds, movements, or expressions without attaching meaning, we clear out the mental dust. This breaks the habitual control loops of the mind and allows deeper emotions to surface.
Silence Follows Naturally - True inner stillness cannot be forced through more thinking. It arises as a byproduct of letting go. Once emotions and chaotic energy are expressed without judgment, the mind naturally falls silent. In that silence, there is nowhere left to go but inward. Beneath the noise lies the spaciousness of awareness, a quiet presence that is always available.
Meditation and Guidance - Meditation under the guidance of a realised Master like Shree Shivkrupanand Swamiji helps quiet the mind. In meditation, the space opens where expression can happen without analysis or storytelling. Silence follows naturally, and the deeper layers of emotion dissolve. What remains is clarity, peace, and the bliss of inner stillness.
Coming Home to Silence - Beneath the mental noise lies the truth of your being. The mind will always chatter, but you are not the chatter - you are the awareness beneath it. When emotions are expressed without judgment and the mind’s stories are set aside, silence emerges. In that silence, you come home to yourself.
