When Things Don’t Go
Your Way
We can learn to be resilient not only by looking at the life stories
of great souls, but also by the things that bother us in life. The test of one’s
capacity to be resilient can be gauged by observing how one reacts when things
are not going the way you want them to. Research shows that our capacity to be
resilient can be predicted by seeing how we handle minor stressful situations,
if we cope well then it is an indicator that we will most likely do well when
the big stressful situation crops up.
Actually, if one does feel stress even in minor stressful
situations then that is the sign for us to change ourselves, to change our
attitude and approach to a more positive and proactive one. Changing one’s attitude
and consciousness will be far more helpful than complaining that people or
circumstances will not change for you.
My own experience tells me that if we manage to remain centred and
focused on the divinity within us, then there is no way that the circumstances
or perceived hardships will bother us. It is important to remain focused on the
dynamics of any stressful situation, remain calm while you get indications from
within on the path to follow. Once the indications flash, just follow them
blindly without hesitation and you will soon find that this tense situation has
moved on into the past without affecting you. It is all about having faith in
the divinity within each one of us, once that faith is developed there is no
way that anyone will think negatively.
All situations in life come as a test of our resilience and a test
of our ego. We need to realise this and then face those situations and people
in a manner which surmounts the problem without hurting anyone in the given
situation.
Most of us ask, “Why me? Why do bad things always happen to me?” My
response has always been, “What’s special about you? Why not you?” All of us
have to pay our karmic debts, the sooner we realise this fact, the better it
will be for our spiritual progress.
Accepting whatever life throws at us with equanimity and calmness
is the solution to a centred life. God will always test you and give you a
helping hand when you need it the most – one just needs to have faith, that’s
all! Meditate and remain centred, with this adverse situations will just become
a walk in the park!
