Judgment and Acceptance

The human brain stores innumerable impressions from the past, some of which we have forgotten ages ago, but these same impressions come to the fore when any similar incident occurs in the present time. Our memory is full of past incidents involving situations and people and a majority of these relate to bad or traumatic incidents. These generally for the database for our present actions and reactions. When anything happens, we are usually quick to form judgment on why this happened or how that person should have reacted and so on. In any incident involving people it is best to hear both sides of any story before forming your own judgment, else we end up being unfair to one or the other person. When this happens, we end up hurting one person and siding with another in a rather unfair manner.

When we turn spiritual this kind of behaviour is detrimental to our own spiritual progress as we attract the negative vibes of the person whom we have unknowingly been unfair to! A better way to deal with such people or situations is to accept whatever has happened rather than pass judgment. Acceptance has an element of forgiveness built into it and when you accept situations or mistakes – both your own as well as those of others – you embark on the path of healing. This is essential for your spiritual growth. Without healing of past and present hurts – both mental and physical – there is no spiritual progress, this will block both your heart and brow chakras.

A better way to progress spiritually is to learn to stop being judgmental, learn to first understand the person or situation – try to put yourself in the other person’s shoe and find out for yourself how you would react, try and find out the background or history which makes people behave in the manner that they do – this will give you a better understanding and feeling of compassion to deal with the issue. Once you have understood the situation or person learn to accept. Accept without trying to change anything, without letting your ego pass judgment, accept that the world is the way it is and there is little you can do to change it in spite of best efforts. Accept that, because otherwise our life will be filled with frustration of our own making.

After accepting learn to love – love filled with compassion heals the best and provides the soothing balm to all wounds. Loving others will serve to make yourself happier. And loving others can change the lives of others, if you choose to express that love and take action on it. I can’t guarantee what will happen, but it can be life-changing. With meditation – love and compassion become an integral part of your personality – so learn to accept without being judgmental, becoming loving and compassionate – this will be pure joy for your soul.
