Used But Never
Emptied
This is a quote from the Tao – ‘The Tao is like a
well, used but never emptied. It is the eternal void, filled with infinite
possibilities.’ Tao means different things according to different
interpretations – from the advaita vedanta consciousness comes closest to the
meaning of Tao. Something that is there and not there – the eternal ever
expanding void filled with consciousness.
When you introspect on the phrase you realise that there is a
force in the universe that is being used all the time but it is never emptied,
it can never be emptied – it is infinite and ever expanding. When we sit for
meditation and go deep within; we find that our consciousness is expanding and
as it expands more and more dimensions open up and the divine inner experiences
keep unfolding.
On
introspecting you feel that everybody should get rich and famous and so
everything they ever dreamed of so that they can see for themselves that this
is not the answer – used but never emptied. There is a continuum in life which
worldly pleasures cannot fulfil after a point. Comforts are available in plenty
but that does not still the mind which is for ever craving for more. The inner
peace is missing, finding the eternal void, embarking on the journey to
infinite possibilities – that remains.
The question
is how to embark on this stupendous life transforming journey? Very few people
on earth have travelled this path! Who will be the guide showing the way? It is
here that the spiritual masters play their role – in India we have many from
Shree Shivkrupanand Swami, Sadhguru, Sri Sri Ravishankar, Sri M, Avadhut Baba
and so on. All of them are working to raise the consciousness levels of human
society. This is a gargantuan task with 99% of the population engrossed
in world pleasures and material benefits. No one has time to think of the inner
as they are conned by print, visual and social media into believing and looking
for pleasures which really lead you only to grief in the long run – by then it
is too late.
It is better to become aware of our life’s purpose early on and
live by Tao’s principle which is filled with infinite possibilities. Let us
embark on our journey into the infinite and seek and find all those inner
pleasures which are filled with quiet, bliss, joy and happiness which are beyond
definition.
