Satchitananda – Part 1

Sat-Chitta-Ananda meaning Truth-Consciousness-Bliss – how do we reach this stage? Osho has explained this beautifully – I will try and summarise it in this post.

In the spiritual realm there are seven chakras associated with the seven bodies of each human being. I have written about this aspect in one of my earlier posts – the first four chakras can be crossed with regular meditation under the guidance of a realised Master. Briefly the bodies-chakras are: Physical-Root, Emotional-Sacral, Astral-Navel, Mental-Heart, Spiritual-Throat, Cosmic-Agya (Brow), Nirvanic-Crown.

The fifth body is the spiritual body and the vishuddhi chakra is connected to the spiritual body. The first four bodies and their chakras were split into two. The duality ends with the fifth body. Difference between male-female lasts until the fourth body; after that it ends. If you have observed closely duality belongs to male and female. Where the distance between the two disappears, at that very point duality ceases to exist. The fifth body is non-dual.

By the time we reach the fifth body we have developed so much capability and strength in our spiritual pursuit that it is very easy to enter the fifth body. How do we know this? The person who has reached this stage is completely rid of all unconsciousness – his body sleeps at night, but there is someone within who is awake all the time. Sleep is the innate condition before the beginning of the spiritual plane. Once man enters the fifth body the ‘sleep’ disappears, and here the quality is wakefulness. At this stage the person is considered to be awakened. At this stage the ’I’ disappears once and for all. Conflicts and problems of the individual end at this stage – here the question – ‘Who am I?’ is answered.

Once we enter the fifth body, whatever we do is in a wakeful state, with full awareness. The danger at this stage is that you become so happy and blissed out at this stage that you don’t want to go further. This is because man has suffered through several births and this state of bliss feels like heaven, hence the danger. One has now attained atma-gyan or self-realisation and to reach the stage of Brahma-gyan – the cosmic reality becomes a challenge!

Bliss draws us into itself; we get completely immersed in it as it is something we have craved for several births and the feeling is so intense that one really does not want to get out of it! Stand out of it – become a witness, watch it, that is the only way you can progress further.
